Application Procedure

      0. If you're registering SIGIR 2017, please complete the SIGIR 2017 registration first.
      1. Visit the online registration form and register the required information.
      2. Organizers will check the form and contact you if clarification is needed.
      3. If everything's okay, we will inform you the payment information.
      4. Make the payment within one week after we send the payment information.
      5. The payment confirmation mail will be sent to you when we confirm the payment.

* The registration fee includes lecture materials, bunquet on August 3rd, coffees and lunches on August 2nd - 5th.

Poster Presentation

We strongly encourage all participants to make a poster presentation on the first day (Aug 2, 2017) of the summer school, in which you can present your research for discussion with the other participants and lecturers and networking among participants. Poster presentation is required if you apply for a visa support (either via SIGIR 2017 or ASSIA 2017). At the registration form, we will ask you to input the title, authors, and abstract of your poster.

VISA Support

If you need a visa to enter Japan, please remember that you're the one who has to apply to authorized organizations. We do not make a visa application on behalf of you. Please also note that although we will make our effort to support your visa application, we may not be able to meet your requirement.

We need information about your ID and referee. For students, a referee has to be your supervisor. For non-student participants, your referee can be your line manger or boss in your organization.

At the registration form, we will ask you to submit the following items:

  • - Referee information (name, post, affiliation, email address, postal address, and phone number)
  • - Scan of your ID
  • - Recommendation letter from your referee

Cancellation

To cancel your registration after the payment is made, you need to notify us in writing to the following contact address.

The refund policy is as follows.

  • Until June 30th, 2017 (JST): 100% refund
  • After July 1st, 2017 (JST): None refund
